Visit from representatives from the Ombudsman of Estonia (Office of the Chancellor of Justice)

Five representatives from the Ombudsman of Estonia (Office of the Chancellor of Justice), staff from the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman and representatives from the Danish Institute for Human Rights and DIGNITY

The aim of the visit was to study the legal regulation and practical implementation of involuntary psychiatric treatment, and how the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman monitors psychiatric hospitals.

EU TAIEX Expert Mission on “Strengthening the National Prevention Mechanism” (NPM)

Representatives from Ombudsmen of Greece, Spain, Denmark and Kazakhstan, and members of the NPM Coordinating Council of Kazakhstan, including heads of the Regional NPM Groups, experts, NGOs, government institutions, and NPM staff

The aim of the expert mission was to assist the NPM to perform its mandate, according to the OPCAT, by offering advice and expertise on e.g. available practices and methodologies.

Ombudsmen and Chancellors of Justice from Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Denmark and staff from the institutions

 Exchange concerning changes in mandates, structures or other developments in the institutions and explanations of recent topical cases. An additional theme for the meeting was Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The Danish Institute for Human Rights, partners in the MENA-region – including Ombudsman institutions, National Human Rights institutions and National Preventive Mechanisms under the OPCAT-mandate – and staff from the Ombudsman’s International Section

 Presentation of the Danish Ombudsman institution, the Danish NPM and the Danish NHRI. Exchange of experiences with the institutions from the MENA region and among those institutions.

Themes for the meeting were i.a. practical and legal challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic, digitization and supervision of institutions in other countries.
May 2022 Copenhagen, Denmark Visit from the Egyptian Parliament 13 members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Egyptian Parliament, representatives from DEDI (Danish Egyptian Dialogue Initiative) and staff from the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman Inspiration and exchange of experiences concerning the Ombudsman institution and its working methods.
May, June and November 2022 Online workshop, onsite training in Bogor, Indonesia, and visit to Semarang, Indonesia Exchange of experiences regarding accessibility and inclusion of persons with disabilities – a partnership between the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, the Danish Association of the Physically Disabled and the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman Ombudsmen from Indonesia, disability organisations and other civil society organisations from Indonesia, representatives from the Danish Association of the Physically Disabled and staff from the Ombudsman’s International Section The objective of the project has been for the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia to improve its services to be inclusive and accessible for persons with disabilities. All partners agree on and recommend future cooperation and continuation of the partnership since the project has achieved good results.
