The Ombudsman notifies the relevant authorities about the complaint. In some cases, a complaint is forwarded to the authorities. It is a central part of the case processing that the authorities consider the subject of the complaint.
When a complaint concerns a person such as a case officer with an authority, the Ombudsman usually informs the person about the complaint. Pursuant to the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Danish Data Protection Act, everybody has the right to know that authorities and others have information about them in their IT systems.
If somebody requests access to information in a complainant’s case with the Ombudsman Office, the Ombudsman will process the request according to the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act as well as the principles of the Danish Public Administration Act and the Danish Access to Public Administration Files Act etc. It is possible that others have the right to gain access to some of the information in the case.
